Who Is Britney Spears and What Does She Do?

Britney Spears had her acting debut in The All-New Mickey Mouse Club when she was 11 years old, and she went on to have a hugely successful career as a pop singer and performer with the release of the track "...Baby One More Time" in 1998, which became her first hit record. Before suffering a series of personal and professional setbacks, Spears gained great success with albums such as Oops!... I Did It Again and Britney. With the hit single Femme Fatale in 2011, she was able to get back on track, and she subsequently had an extended residency at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.

Britney Jean Spears was born on December 2, 1981, in McComb, Mississippi, and raised in the Louisiana town of Kentwood. She is a singer, dancer, and actress. Britney Spears has maintained her position as one of the most successful—and often controversial—solo artists in contemporary music for more than two decades. For a period of time, though, she was more well-known for her personal difficulties.

Spears, the middle child of three children, showed an early interest in performing when he was only a toddler. "Since I was 7 or 8 years old, my mother has had guests around, and I have always enjoyed performing in front of the television for them. In fact, even when I was in school, I was the odd kid; I would walk outside and, instead of playing, I would want to conduct Star Search contests, which I would win "According to Spears, who spoke to the Hollywood Reporter.

In 2007, when she was eight years old, she auditioned for a role on The All-New Mickey Mouse Club, which airs on the Disney Channel. Spears did not earn the role, but she did finally fulfil one of her childhood ambitions: she performed on the famed entertainment competition Star Search in 1992, demonstrating her singing abilities.

Spears tried out for The All-New Mickey Mouse Club for the second time when she was 11 years old. Unlike the last time, she was chosen to join the cast, which included other rising stars such as Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, and actress Keri Russell. The pop star participated on the children's variety programme for two consecutive seasons. Afterward, she told the Hollywood Reporter that the experience had been "wonderful, incredible." "We got to sing, dance, and do everything," she said.

"...Baby One More Time" and "Oops!... I Did It Again" are two of the band's most popular songs.

Following the discontinuation of the programme in 1995, Spears concentrated on furthering her musical career. She finally signed a recording deal with the label Jive Records. "...Baby One More Time" was Spears' debut song, which was released in September of 1998. It was the end of January 1999 when this catchy song soared to the top of the pop charts, helped along in part by a music video in which the vocalist danced in a scant imitation of a Catholic schoolgirl outfit. Despite the harsh criticism she received for her provocative costume from the parents of her young followers, Spears maintained that she was at heart a nice, innocent Southern girl.

After debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 charts the following year,...Baby One More Time went on to sell more than 25 million copies worldwide in the following years. Spears took up four trophies at the 1999 Billboard Music Awards, including female artist of the year and best new artist, among others. Her meteoric rise to fame propelled her to the forefront of the adolescent pop music tsunami that also featured fellow Mickey Mouse Club grads Christina Aguilera and Jessica Simpson.

In 2000, Spears released her second studio album, Oops!... I Did It Again, which built on her stratospheric ascent. After debuting at No. 1 on the album charts in its first week, the album went on to sell more than 1 million copies in its second week. The singer's personal life was also coming under more attention, thanks to accusations that she was dating Justin Timberlake, who was then a member of the popular boy band *NSYNC.

From 'Britney' to 'In the Zone,' a sexier image is created.

With the release of Britney in 2001, Spears took the first step toward abandoning her innocent image while simultaneously shifting her musical approach. When she released the song "I'm a Slave 4 U," it sounded more like a Prince tune than the bubblegum pop she was known for in the past. "I'd grow bored if I had to sing the same sort of tunes over and over again. I still like my old things, but you have to stretch yourself and evolve in order to be successful "According to Entertainment Weekly, she stated. When Spears sang "I'm a Slave 4 U" at the 2001 MTV Video Music Awards, she drew attention by dancing with a seven-foot albino python around her neck and wearing a barely-there outfit.

Around the same time, Spears was cast in the feature film Crossroads, in which she had a prominent part. While reviewers were harsh on the coming-of-age movie following its premiere in February 2002, the film went on to make more than $60 million worldwide in its last year of distribution. That spring, Spears was dealt another blow when she and Timberlake revealed that they had called it quits after three years together.

She made news the next year when she performed at the MTV Video Music Awards, which took place the following year. During a performance, she and fellow former Mouseketeer Aguilera had a kiss with music icon Madonna, who was in attendance. It was speculated that Spears was using this dramatic stage moment as yet another opportunity to display the most recent version of her more sexualized public image. It was at this time that Spears recognised Madonna as having had a significant effect on her. "She was on television, and I was sitting in my living room, watching her. When I was younger, I'd dance around in my short tops and sing while daydreaming of becoming her "According to Spears' interview with Newsweek.

Spears' next studio album, In the Zone, which included vocals from Madonna on the tune "Me Against the Music," was released in November of that year. The top hit from the album, "Toxic," garnered Spears her first Grammy Award, which she received for Best Dance Recording.

Relationship with Kevin Federline

During the month of January 2004, Spears looked to be rebelling once again, this time against her demanding work schedule. It was in Las Vegas that she tied the knot with her childhood friend Jason Alexander, but the marriage was called off two days later. She soon became connected with backup dancer Kevin Federline, who became her boyfriend. Federline's partner was pregnant with their second kid at the time of the incident. Spears' connection with Federline only became more intense as the media focused more attention on her personal life.

It was at this period that Spears had some difficulties in her work life. She was forced to postpone the last leg of her tour because she needed to have surgery to treat a knee ailment she sustained. Spears and Federline exchanged vows on September 18, 2004, in Studio City, California, where they had met.

Her greatest hits collection, Greatest Hits: My Prerogative, was published shortly after her wedding. Spears performed Bobby Brown's popular single "My Prerogative," which seemed to be her method of responding to her detractors and hitting out at the media circus that had surrounded her for so long. The album sold more than 5 million copies worldwide, however it wasn't as popular as In the Zone was at the time.

Despite her dwindling sales, Spears seemed to be satisfied. It was in April 2005 that she and her husband made the announcement that they were expecting their first child together. "Being pregnant is a liberating experience for me. I believe it brings out a more sincere part of you "According to Spears' interview with People magazine. Despite the general public's interest in the young pair, only a small number of viewers turned in to see their 2005 reality programme, Britney and Kevin: Chaotic, which portrayed the narrative of their early romance via personal videos shot by the couple. Sean Preston was born to the couple in September of that year.

In the Public Eye, There Are Issues

In February 2006, the new mother found herself on deep trouble when she was seen on video driving her vehicle with her young boy in her lap. She was charged with child endangerment. In the wake of her acts, her parenting abilities were the topic of national controversy, and she was even reprimanded by Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta for her behaviour. Mineta described Spears' actions as "irresponsible" and "troubling," and said that she was sending "the wrong message to millions of her admirers" by her actions.

Spears expressed regret for the event, explaining that she was only trying to get away from the photographers at the time. The actress told People magazine, "I love my daughter more than anything, and as horrible as this experience has been for me and my family, if it draws greater attention to child safety, then I wholeheartedly support it."

With the birth of their son Jayden James in September 2006, Spears and Federline welcomed a new member into their growing family. A shocking move came two months later when Spears filed for divorce, alleging "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split.

Following her divorce, Spears spent some time on the club scene, where she partied with socialite Paris Hilton, among other celebrities. She apparently went in and out of recovery, and then shaved her head at a California beauty parlour as photographers snapped images of her while she was doing it in February 2007. According to her, "my mother is about to have a nervous breakdown." Spears went to a rehab clinic in California the next month and spent the next month there.

Towards the end of the summer, Spears and Federline were embroiled in a contentious custody fight for their two kids, with Spears having also severed her ties with her mother. Despite her personal difficulties, she continued her musical career with the release of the album Blackout. The song "Gimme More," which was released in September, garnered a positive response from both the general audience and the media.
