Her mother, Helga Bullock (née Helga Mathilde Meyer; 1942-2000), was of German descent and was born in Nuremberg, Germany, to Eugen Meyer and Elisabeth Wilhelmine Böhnert. She was an opera singer and vocal instructor in her own right.
